Youth Sports Concussion Protocol

The California Assembly recently passed Bill 2007 titled "Youth Sports Concussion Protocol."

To help ensure the health and safety of young athletes, CDC developed the HEADS UP Concussion in Youth Sports initiative to offer information about concussions to coaches, parents, and athletes involved in youth sports. The HEADS UP initiative provides important information on preventing, recognizing, and responding to a concussion.

Under this law, all athletes participating on a team and their parents/guardians are required to have a Concussion Information Sheet from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) that is signed by both the athlete and their parent/guardian (Download the English Version | Download the Spanish Version).  Please bring this to the in-person registration.

Also, managers, coaches, umpires and league/district personnel are required to go through concussion awareness training through the CDC's Heads Up program.  Once the training is completed, please print out the certificate and provide to the Saticoy Little League Player Agents.

2018 Intermediate Division

For 2018, the Board of Directors has decided to move forward with the Intermediate division in place of the Majors division.  This was based on feedback received from parents and players in the prior year.

What does this mean for your player?

  • Intermediate is for players that are league age 11-13
  • Players that are league age 11 can play in either Intermediate or Minor A.This will be based largely on player ability and parental preference.
  • Players that are league age 13 can play in either Intermediate or Juniors. Our recommendation is that players that are league age 13, in the 8th grade, and have ambitions to play in high school play in the Juniors division. The Juniors field size is equivalent to high school and will better prepare them for the future.

All Star rules:

  • All players that play in Intermediate will be eligible for all stars in that division.
  • A player that is league age 11 and playing in intermediate will NOT be eligible for the league age 10-11 All Star team.
  • A player that is league age 11 and playing in Minor A WILL be eligible for the 10-11 All Star team.
